Sea Kayaking Cavtat
For those with an adventurous spirit, we offer sea kayaking in the legendary waters surrounding Cavtat. With nearby islands and protection from strong winds and waves, Cavtat is the ideal place for sea kayaking.
Our sea kayaking Cavtat tours begin with a mandatory safety briefing and a full review of the itinerary.
Prior to departure, everyone will be outfitted with life vests and large waterproof barrels for personal belongings such as towels, bags, backpacks, and a change of clothes. You may request a small waterproof barrel for your cameras, which you will likely want to keep within arms reach, as we will encounter some excellent photo opportunities along the way.
We then depart from Cavtat’s old harbor and follow the coast along the old town promenade, which in the summer months plays host to boutique cafes and some of the world’s most luxurious yachts. The modern facades do little to hide traces of the town’s historical heritage. During each stop, our guide will relate short histories and legends of the town, while you ask questions, grab some snapshots of the magnificent views, or simply rest and take in the sights. As Cavtat thrives off of it’s ecological bounties, the guide will also relate some fun facts about the sea and local marine life that has bound the people of Cavtat to the region for over 2000 years.
A highlight of the tour is a long stop in a lagoon on a nearby, uninhabited island. It is a beautiful location where we will recharge our energy levels with bottled water and delicious gourmet sandwich rolls, made fresh before each tour by a local restaurant along the old harbor. The island is flat and forested, and ideal for a small hike. For those who wish to swim and further explore the wonders of the marine ecosystem, we provide masks and snorkels.
Please note a few important formalities: There is a changing area, a shower, and a storage area at our start point. There are also several toilets available within one minute walking distance. This might not seem important now, but once you’re here, it makes all the difference in the world. 🙂
